What is the Kratom Consumer Protection Act?

by | Oct 13, 2022 | American Kratom Association, Kratom Advocacy, Kratom Good Manufacturing Practices

The New Jersey kratom consumer protection act was created to protect consumers from scrupulous vendors who were selling harmful products claiming to be kratom.

I have not experienced this myself personally, but I also do not shop around for kratom that often, so that limits my exposure. The basics of the kratom consumer protection act state that kratom cannot contain or be mixed with the following:

  1. adulterated with a dangerous non-kratom substance, including a substance that affects the quality or strength of the kratom product to render the product injurious to a consumer.
  2. contaminated with a dangerous non-kratom substance, including a substance that is poisonous or otherwise deleterious.
  3. containing a level of 7-hydroxymitragynine in the alkaloid fraction that is greater than 2% of the alkaloid composition of the product.
  4. containing any synthetic alkaloids; or
  5. does not include on its package or label the amount of Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine contained in the product.
  6. Age limits of either 18 or 21 depending upon the state. These are just a few of the requirements.

There have been reports over the years about adulterated kratom products. There were deaths in Sweden from kratom laced with O-desmethyltramadol. That brand was Krypton and it was pulled from the marketplace. This was over 10 years ago, but kratom got a bad name because of the vendors that were spiking the kratom with substances that get you high!

So, people heard about deaths and the name kratom was right there next to the story. Not good for kratom and not good for the millions of people who truly see kratom as a wonderful tool.

Question? If kratom really did get people high than why would a company add something else to get you high? That does not make sense! The science is finally coming out to support the fact that kratom does not produce a high in the natural form.

Kratom Abuse Potential 2021: An Updated Eight Factor Analysis shows that kratom has exciting potential. Companies have sold products as kratom, but these products never actually contained kratom at all. Some products were research chemicals and others were harmful street drugs.

Some of these products were mixed in with actual kratom to produce a high feeling. Kratom consumers know that real kratom does not produce a high feeling. Superior quality kratom is more like a great cup of espresso with an extra mood boost!

Many states like New Jersey had been trying to ban kratom because of the stories they hear about these adulterated kratom products. The kratom consumer protection act has been introduced in New Jersey so we can ensure proper kratom products are being sold.

Importing high quality kratom with proper manufacturing processes from southeast Asia is vital to ensure that the type of product coming into the country is legitimate. At Christopher’s Organic Botanicals we sell many different types of kratom products including kratom capsules, chewable kratom tablets, kratom powders, kratom tea bags and much more!

Our online store offers free shipping on all orders over $20.00. We have a customer service representative available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am- 4:30 pm to answer any questions about our process (Usually Emily or Holly, but I do answer the phone from time to time). People have asked if there is such a thing as certified organic kratom? Not at this time, but there will be a process that shows leaf to table very soon.

This process will show what farm and what farmer is picking your leaf. We are getting close to a full transparent process to show exactly where your leaf is from and what farmer picked it! We started selling kratom online in 2016. We wanted to do things differently and wanted transparency in our processes.

The kratom market has grown tremendously over the past few years. We want to grow with the industry but maintain our small batch kratom vibe! Let Christopher’s Organic Botanicals be the one stop kratom shop for all your kratom needs. Yes, I write all my blogs by myself and do not have a writer.

We will have some guest posting at some point, but the blog will say guest post and who wrote it. I want people to hear from me personally and not someone else. Kratom has made a positive impact on My life, and I want to share my stories and what I have learned about kratom over the past 7 years!

The Federal Kratom Consumer Protection Act was Filed in 2022 and we will be following the developments.

You can check if the kratom consumer protection act is in your state here in the 2023 Kratom State Legality & Legislation.
